  • John is the founder of the Minneapolis employment and civil rights litigation firm of John A. Klassen, P.A. He received law degrees from the University of British Columbia (1992) and Seattle University (1993).

    Since 1994, John has practiced exclusively in the areas of employment and civil rights law. Your letter should be much shorter and should just state that you wish to apply for a master's or doctoral program in English, as the case may be, and request information and application forms. You should include your nationality and country of residence.. . You need to learn the proper form for a letter, including a letterhead. This information should be in a basic English book in your university library.. . I am very sorry to inform you that your letter is not written in idiomatic English and will probably count against you if you are applying for a postgraduate program. It has only a few major grammatical errors, but perfect idiomatic English is expected of applicants to most graduate programs in English in Canada, unless you are applying to a program which is designed for the students to improve basic English language skills. Most graduate programs in English involve in depth study of English language literature. Your letter demonstrates that you will have great difficulty in writing the papers which would be expected in such a program.. . May I respectfully suggest that you get tutoring from someone whose first language is English before you apply to a regular English postgraduate program.
