Paying an old debt will not re-age the account to report for a longer period than it would normally report. Re-aging an account to make it report for a longer period is illegal.. . In most states, making a payment on an old debt does not re-set the collecting SOL. . In some states making a payment will re-set the collecting SOL IF there is a written agreement to pay. If there is a written agreement to pay, the only way that a creditor/collector could legally sue is if the debtor fails to live up to the agreement..

"Black History Month" has been observed for 29 years, yet many blacks know little to nothing about the parties' respective roles in advancing or hindering the civil rights of blacks. How many blacks know that following the Civil War, 23 blacks -- 13 of them ex-slaves -- were elected to Congress, all as Republicans? The first black Democrat was not elected to Congress until 1935, from the state of Illinois. The first black congressional Democrat from a Southern state was not elected until 1973.. . Democrats, in 1854, passed the Kansas-Nebraska Act. This overturned the Missouri Compromise and allowed for the importation of slaves into the territories. Disgusted with the passage of this Act, free-soilers and anti-slavery members of the Whig and Democratic parties founded the Republican Party -- not just to stop the spread of slavery, but to eventually abolish it.

The Chief Planning Officer. Extown Borough Council. County Offices. Extown. . Proposals regarding the building of a new hospital in Oakwood Park.. . Dear Sir,. . The local press has announced the fact that the council proposes to build a new hospital on the land in Oakwood park.. As the secretary of the local Residents' Association I have been asked to convey the general dismay caused by this proposal. . Whilst there is no doubt that the present hospital has become a positive embarassement, due to its age and limited size, and it needs replacing by a modern structure, the choice of this location is a grave error and shows a total lack of foresight.. To start with the site is highly unsuitable for such a huge development which necessitates a much larger piece of land as it is bound to expand. The Victorian Ophthalmic hospital is also outdated and impractical, and it is known that the powers that be intend it to be transferred to the same site as that of the proposed general hospital.

You would abbreviate the title just as you would abbreviate Mister. So "Dear Prof. Smith and colleagues" works for me. So would "Dear Dr. Jacobs and Job Search Committee.". . You don't use the group leader's first name any more than you'd address a business letter with "Dear Ms. Penelope Harper." You'd use "Dear Ms. Harper.". . The group leader's full name goes in the inside address, so your letter might start with:. . August 22, 2007. . Professor James Smith, Chairman. Committee for the Hiring of Kirstins. Major Australian University. Anytown, NSW. Australia. . Dear Prof. Smith and Hiring Committee,.
