Did you change your surname when you got married? . I'm not engaged yet, but will be soon. I have mentioned it to my boyfriend and he didn't seem to mind overly much. . My mother has been married twice and never changed her name, neither of my aunties have changed their surnames and neither did my step mum.. Personally I see your name as your identity, but I kind of feel bad for not wanting to take his surname, I want us to be seen as a real couple, not separate.. I was considering a hyphenated surname but my surname is 7 letters and his is 9 (16 letter surname) and the 2 names together would be 5 syllables. So this also feels a bit over the top and too much of a mouthful.. Who here changed their names and who didn't?. Plus our children will have his surname. I know when I was young my mum would be called by our surname (our dad's surname) and she didn't like it... I don't agree that the children will get confused of picked on. As I said, My mum never changed her name and it was normal to me and my sister. We were never teased, the other kids just accepted it..

CV and letters of applications?

I would not suggest generalizing. Develop a base cover letter that you would send to an engineering job. However (this is the important part!), tailor each cover letter to a specific company and position. Employers are often sifting through hundreds of resume's and cover letters. You have one page to sell yourself and demonstrate to the company that you are genuinely qualified for the position you are applying for, not that you are just a qualified engineer. In addition, you need to make the company feel like you are genuinely interested in them, and aren't just spamming applications out all over the place in a desperate attempt to get a job.. . Don't skimp on any part in the application process. Be thorough and very thoughtful.

In which part of a formal letter do u insert the name an address of someone to whom a copy of the letter is being sent to. I would appreciate a sample pls.
