In order for a will to be valid in the state of Alabama: 1)the maker must be of sound mind, 2) must be signed by the maker and 3) must be witnessed with the witnesses signatures.. . A will can be handwritten or typed as long as it meets the 3 requirements above. It does not have to be notarized, but that helps.

I was married in Ireland to my husband (he is from there I am from America) and when we moved back to the States I had all my things changed (drivers lic. social security, etc) it was no problem, I just brought the marriage cert., and other forms of ID and they changed it, I think you should call and talk to someone else there or try going in again maybe the 1st person wasn't right.
