It's well known that large media conglomerates and collectives like to send blanket infringement notices to as many people as possible in the hopes that they can then threaten fines to get settlements out of them. Often, this is a staple of their business model. If you know that you received the letter in error, being that you did not download the material they are claiming you did, then you can do one of two things. You can either ignore it and hope they eventually stop bothering you about it, or you can file a counter-notice with Comcast.. . This is basically sending a polite, well-worded letter to the ISP which states that the notice they received about your alleged infringement is incorrect, and that you would appreciate it if they ceased sending you notices regarding the material. Because most people won't bother to send a counter-notice upon receiving a claim of infringement, organizations which actually get one will usually back off. It's not worth it for them to pursue someone who's willing to fight them, since there are plenty of other people they can go after instead.
