When I was about 13 my mother remarried and legally changed my name to reflect that of her new husband, who was an abusive individual. Now that I am over 18 I would like to change my name back to my original birth name. I know I can just file a name change petition but is there any way to actually dissolve the first name change, as though it never occurred? That's what I want to know. I want to erase any connection to this individual who brought me nothing but harm. How can I do this? I live in CA if that makes a difference..

The silver lining won't come up and dance naked in front of you. You have to look for it. Then, you will find it.. . Try looking up some quotes by Nick Vujicic (has no arms or legs) or Stephen Hawking. They both have serious physical disabilities but are still very motivational and positive people.. . You never know what the silver lining could be. Maybe your fiance would have eventually abused you if you had stayed with him and never gotten the brain injury. Maybe your role in life is to be an inspiration to other people to be thankful for their blessings. Maybe the injury will make YOU more thankful for your own other blessings. Maybe it will make you emotionally stronger as a person, having to live through this trial. Maybe God was deciding between having you die and having you get the brain injury, and chose for you to get the brain injury so that you could spend some more time living.. . Everyone has weaknesses, and things they wish they had. Instead of looking at what you DON'T have, look at what you DO have. Do you have a reliable source of food? Do you have a home? Do you have warm clothes for the winter? Do you live in a country where you have freedom? When you look at what you have instead of worrying about things you don't have, then you will be much happier.

I think this is the right forum for this question, I am getting married tomorrow, and I currently am stationed in colorado, but a resident of Massachusetts, and he is a resident of Texas, I want to take his last name, but I don't know if I'm supposed to file for the name change through Mass, or through Colorado, I've looked up the forms online, and I have the forms for changing my name on license, but that's the only one I'm sure on as I will be keeping a Mass license. . Thanks in advance for any help!.

In situations regarding co-signers, the banks will go after who ever is the easier target. If the co-signer has the funds available they will sue them first and then only if they can't get what they think is due them will they go after the other signer on the mortgage. That said, the foreign investor will not be able to do business in the US until the mortgage holder releases them from the lean, but if they never plan on doing business then it may be worth it.. . The only risk of international pursuit is if the mortgage holder has international offices or subsidiaries. If they have contacts where the foreign investor lives then they will most certainly go after them as it is actually cheaper to sue overseas than it is in the US the barrier is usually the lack of a local agent.
