• Melody Whittaker Kitchen joined Daniel M. Copeland, Attorney at Law, P.A. on April of 2012. Although raised in North Carolina, Melody was born in Heidelberg, Germany in 1978, while both her parents were serving the United States Army. In 2005, Melody obtained Bachelor degrees in Political Science and Economics from Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina. After working as a paralegal for several years, she relocated to Jacksonville to pursue her law degree. She received her Juris Doctorate from Florida Coastal School of Law in 2011. She is admitted to the Florida Bar and the United States District Court for the Middle District of Florida.

  During law school, Melody interned at the International Criminal Court for the Former Yugoslavia in The Hague, The Netherlands, where she gained valuable experience which she now uses to aggressively advocate for her clients. Melody also clerked at a mid-sized Jacksonville-based personal injury law firm which taught her how to help clients through difficult and stressful times in their lives. These experiences have proved valuable in helping her family law clients navigate the complicated and emotional process of dissolving a marriage or fighting for custody of a child.

  As an associate with Daniel M. Copeland, Attorney at Law, P.A., Melody focuses her practice on family law cases involving divorce, custody, paternity, and child support and specializes in assisting military service members and their families. As a daughter of veterans, Melody appreciates the sacrifices our military service members and their families make and she understands the unique stresses and problems they face when dealing with family law issues.

  When Melody is not working, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband, Larry, and their two dogs, Reese and Mocha.
