The format of a letter of recommendation is generally up to the writer. Typically, that will include who the writer is, how they know you, and how long they've known you. That answers the question, "Why should I care about this person's opinion?". . Next, the letter will say why that person thinks you'll do well in and why will be better for having you in it. This might be just a few sentences, and over-the-top exaggerations just look silly. Sometimes, there will be slightly different letters for each place you're applying to. Some times, the recommender will use the same letter for each different place you apply to, especially when writing recommendations for lots of students.. . Some colleges have a specific form, with additional questions like: "Is this candidate in the top 1% of all students you've known? Top 5%? Top 10%? Top 25%? Top 50%?". . Depends on circumstances in most states, the first of which would be of course is the person on whom the policy was taken out deceased yet or still alive and somehow incapacitated? I say this because in some states if the person has POA/Executorship over this person's estate and he/she is still alive the executor would have to prove to a judge or other presiding figure that the best interests of the person are being considered in the absence of that person being mentally able to make the best decisions for themselves. If this has taken place and the executor receives full POA over all accounts, policies and or estate decisions prior to the passing of the person for whom the policy covers then in some states, yes it is legal. However, anyone who wishes to contest anything of this nature can do so by contacting the Probate court in your area, the Company who carries the policy for information on their policies and limitations covering such changes, an attorney who specializes in will and estates and other related matters covering the rights of heirs and beneficiaries. If this policy is in any way mentioned in a will or other document that should have been placed in probate then anyone with a vested interest in the estate may file a protest to have the executor removed and/or at least have the estate placed on a legal holding status until the determining factors can be resolved. In most cases any fraudulent activity can be discovered, halted and or brought to light and stopped before it's too late, but you have to be ready and willing to pursue all avenues to make this happen. Otherwise the courts will take all actions of the POA/executor as final if no one protests. This is not a legal opinion by any means and I certainly urge you to seek legal and/or professional advice in this matter. I am just offering my opinion based upon personal experience with this same type of situation. Hope this helps
