NOT change it to "paid in full" because this does NOT remove derogatory information and will still be a bad mark on your credit.

Most likely your teacher won't judge you on your choice of who to send it to, but more so on the content of your letter. You need to think about which means more to you. In order for the letter to be effective, you need to believe in what you are saying. Although you say you don't want your teacher to know you are overly concerned about cosmetics and clothes, those are completely successful businesses and great choices. Good luck!
