1. Build Trust. Each morning when you feed and change your parakeet's food and water, gently approach the cage and talk in soothing tones. Move slowly as your hand enters the cage. Even if your bird flies frantically around the cage, don't be discouraged. If your bird is from a pet store, he probably associates hands with grabbing and chasing. This is a bird's worst fear so reassure him with soft spoken words and gentle movements.

Yes, there are other mental illnesses that mirror what is now known M?nchausen syndrome by proxy (MSbP or MBP) is a label for a pattern of behavior in which a caregiver deliberately exaggerates, fabricates, and/or induces physical, psychological, behavioral, and/or mental health problems in those who are in their care.[1] With deception at its core, this behavior is an elusive, potentially lethal, and frequently misunderstood form of child abuse[2] or medical neglect[3] that has been difficult to define, detect and confirm.. . Factitious Disorders. . These psychological disorders are those in which an individual acts as if he or she has an illness, often be deliberately faking or exaggerating symptoms or even self-inflicting damage to the body. Types of factitious disorders include:. . Munchausen syndrome. Munchausen syndrome by proxy. Ganser syndrome. .. . The name "M?nchausen syndrome by proxy" is derived from M?nchausen syndrome, but it is important to distinguish one from the other, as they describe very different (but related) conditions. People with M?nchausen syndrome have a profound need to assume the sick role, and will exaggerate complaints, falsify tests, and/or self-inflict illnesses.[4] MSbP perpetrators, by contrast, are willing to fulfill their need for positive attention by hurting their own child, thereby assuming the sick role by proxy. At times, they are also able to assume the hero role and garner still more positive attention, by appearing to care for and 'save' their child.[5]. . M?nchausen syndrome by proxy has evoked much confusion and controversy within medical and mental health communities since its initial description in the late 1970s. There is still no clear consensus between experts on the very definition of the condition
