Daughter needs a little warning from Santa!?

These days their can be so much competition for the good jobs that your cover letter needs to be great otherwise they won't even bother looking at your CV - but I'm guessing you know that by your question.. . I'm applying for jobs right now and what I've found is that you should. . a) Begin by stating what job you are applying for (is their a reference number, date posted, what webiste/paper etc) and briefly why you want the job or what attracted you to the job.. . b) Your CV goes into a lot more detail, however you need to link your CV to the skills and experiences needed as per the job description in the middle paragaph(s) of the cover letter.. . Just pick out a few points that highlight why you are what they are looking for, you need to back this up with actual evidence/examples to prove this - be specific but brief.. . Very Basic Example:. . I gained broad exposure to a number of [skill you have that the company in question are looking for] at [company/uni] as a [previous job title]. My responsibilities ranged from developing [something you did that was listed in the job description], maintaining [another experience or responsibility that is relevant], which as I understand would be required in this position.

what should i write in my sixth form entry letter?

WHY do you want the job? Better pay, stable hours, opportunity for advancement.. . WHAT do you bring to the job? Not just your 'academic achievements' (please ensure you check your spelling). Google the industry in which the administrator position is in. Learn a little about the company. The company want to know about you as a person too to see if you are a good fit for their team.. STRENGTHS: Flexiblity, good team player, adaptable, endurance, initiative - if you can see a better way of achieving a goal faster you like to discuss new ideas, etc.. . WEAKNESSES: Everybody stumbles with this - make it something that has nothing to do with your prospective job, something like love 'shoe shopping'. Anything but "I don't like using excel" (you get the gist). Don't put on any airs or graces or tell the prospective employer something totally left field that is not you @ all. Good Luck & be yourself
