• John A. Schepisi, the Founder and President of Schepisi & McLaughlin P.A., represents many large corporations as well as small companies and family-owned businesses in addition to handling matters for individual clients. Over the years, John has handled matters for companies such as CNBC, Home Depot and J. Fletcher Creamer & Son, Inc., New Jersey's largest utility contractor.

  John's practice focuses on litigation, real estate development and land use issues including property acquisition, zoning approvals and property development and marketing. An engineer by training, he is able to work with clients during the design phase of real estate projects and provide input on development. In the area of litigation, John has successfully represented clients in partnership disputes, corporate dissolutions, business acquisitions and the like.

  After a 10-year court battle, in the fall of 2007, he successfully negotiated a $30 million settlement on behalf of the owners of a hurricane-damaged property in the Netherlands Antilles, making front-page headlines in the New Jersey Law Journal. Additionally, in 2011, John's success on behalf of a property owner facing condemnation was discussed in an editorial in the New Jersey Law Journal.

  A Court-qualified Civil Mediator, John also arbitrates simple and complex matters involving a variety of issues such as construction and financing disputes.

  John received his J.D. from St. John's University School of Law, where he was a member of the University's Law Review, and B.E. from Steven's Institute of Technology.

  Admitted to the bars of the State of New Jersey and New York, John is also admitted to the U.S. District Court of New Jersey and the Third Circuit Court of Appeals, as well as the Western, Southern and Eastern Districts of the U.S. District Court of New York. He is a member of the American, New Jersey and Bergen County Bar Associations, as well as the American Association for Justice and previously served as President of the Bergen County Bar Association.

  A well-respected member within the community, John has been a member of the Board of Governors of Hackensack University Medical Center and currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Stevens Institute of Technology. John served on the founding board of Bridge View Bank, became it's Vice Chairman and then was instrumental in negotiating the merger of Bridge View Bank, then publicly traded, with Interchange Bank. At Interchange Bank, John served on the Executive Committee and played a key role in negotiating the acquisition of Interchange Bank by TD Bank. John's business acumen is an invaluable resource to the clients he represents in all types of cases.

  John previously served as the Bergen County Republican Chairman and has developed contacts in both the Republican and Democratic parties through his work in the state's 21 counties.
