Hi Sarah,. . I agree it is a form of identity theft to do that to a defenseless baby or child. They are still the same person no matter who is raising them. Adoption is not the witness protection program! Names do not need to be changed. It should not even be asked of children if it's something they want to do, because they might agree in an attempt to try to fit in and be loved, when that's not necessary to change their name in the first place. Anybody can legally change their name if that's what they really want to do at age 18 or older.. . Part of the reason some adoptive parents do that is another attempt in the growing list of pathetic ways in which they try to duplicate as closely as possible the experiences that natural parents have by doing things such as re-naming someone else's children, artificial breastfeeding, following expectant mothers around to ultrasound appointments, hijacking labor & delivery rooms, etc. Adoption is very different from giving birth. What some AP's don't understand is the child, no matter how old, already has an identity! Some adults think, because they pay tens of thousands of dollars, that adoption is a service for themselves rather than for a child in need. It is totally unnecessary to change a child's name in order to provide food, clothing, shelter, whatever that child needs. Sometimes those children have already lost absolutely everything they ever had & everyone they ever knew. Their name is the only thing they have left & some adopters want to take that away from them too. They are thinking of themselves, not the child. And it doesn't matter the age of the child!. . My other thought is if you want to name something, get a puppy or have your own children. Adopters who think they need matching names, should change their own names to match the child's. Don't think that's fair? Then don't expect a child to think that's fair either. Names should never be changed without someone's knowledge or consent. People who have a problem with a child's name are probably not the best-suited applicants to care for that particular child. It demonstrates their inability to totally accept the child exactly as they are. My last suggestion is if they have their hearts set on raising a child named John or Mary, for example, they should wait until an actual child already with that name, is in need of an adoptive home, and then inquire about whether they are otherwise suited to care for that child.. . To change a child's name is disrespectful to that child & his/her natural family. It smacks of ownership. It's wrong. Thanks for asking,. . julie j. reunited adult adoptee

Does anyone know of any emergency mobile health care facility in Delhi? We need to get a cardiologist to fly out and treat a heart attack of a patient in a village. The patient is not stabilized, so they cannot move him to Delhi. So we were exploring options if some cardiologists can fly out to him. Please let me know ASAP. Thanks..

If she wants you to invest in the property, please, please do not jump into this without the advice of two different types of experts:. First, a top notch real estate agent who handles investment property. And second, an attorney.. . From what you have said, I think it is extremely unlikely that this would be a good way to spend your money, especially if you don't already own a home. This money pit will suck your savings dry. If you had an extra pot of gold you didn't really need, and you were savvy in real estate investing, you might consider it. But if you do, in your present circumstances, it's unlikely that you'll ever buy that home.. . Suggest to your sister that she consider taking on a seasoned investor as a partner, or think of selling the property if the market is still good in your area.
