Under the "Full Faith and Credit Clause" of the Constitution, a Nevada POA is good in any state. However, as a previous person noted, your wife does not sign anything. Therefore, there is absolutely no reason to do it in Nevada. In my state, we have the Uniform Power of Attorney Act and you can download a pre-approved form from the Court website. However, no offense, but everything in the California legal system seem more difficult to us non-Californian lawyers because you're a Code-pleading state. So, while I'm positive you have no need to do this in Nevada, I suspect you should check with a California lawyer even on something as simple as a POA. However, in my state, they also sell the Legislatively approved forms in stores like "QuikPrint" etc. and in stationary stores.

Clearly, allowing a copy to be as valid as the original just will not work. Therefore ONLY the original signed Power of Attorney is valid. If you want to execute the Power of Attorney, such as sell her house, anyone with even a minute amount of law education is going to ask to see the ORIGINAL Power of Attorney with signatures. (Yes, there are some who will accept a certified copy but that is risky as they do not know if the Power of Attorney is still in effect.) They will of course make a copy, but just to document for themselves that there was one in effect. That copy is not valid, just proof that at the time the legal transaction took place, there was in fact a valid Power of Attorney in place.

Life insurance is NOT an investment or estate planning tool! I have friends who fell for that sales pitch and paid a lot of money into it for more than 20 years. They retired and couldn't make those payments anymore so they didn't renew and opted to cash out. All they got was about $3K.. . Buy cheap term life insurance to cover survivors. Max out that 401K for retirement investment. And if you want to invest more, look into mutual funds.
