My mom is afraid that if I start to model I will become anorexic, do drugs or commit suicide. These are all valid points, but I have discussed these with her and she won't listen to anything I say. I have written her letters and made PowerPoint's trying to convince her I should be allowed to model, but she is SO stubborn! I am a very knowledgeable person, and know that doing drugs or becoming anorexic would flip my life upside down. If anyone has any other suggestions as to how to change her mind, please, say so!.

From an employer's point of view, all you're telling me is what you think you bring to the table.. . You allude to experience. What have you actually ACCOMPLISHED?. . "I'm smart, and a good worker," or "I was a manager for five years at ACME Corp" don't tell me anything.. . "As assistant marketing manager for ACME Corp., I increased sales by 10%, improved customer satisfaction (based on 90% reduction in customer complaints), and came up with three marketing strategies that are still in use by ACME" tells me what you've done. As a hiring manager I really don't care much what you think you might be able to do.. . Also, "Hello," isn't a very businesslike salutation. How about.... . Ms. Joan Heavy. Marketing Vice President. Fly-by-night Enterprises. . Dear Ms. Heavy,. . Also, you might want to avoid lazy applications with a "form" cover letter. You're saying you have an interest in their company... find out about the company. Use some of the words in their "Mission Statement" in your cover letter. If you're responding to an advertisement, use some of the wording they use in their requirements. And I don't mean, "As your 'Mission Statement' says..." or "Your advertisement in the Boondock Herald says you're looking for..." You have to convince them you're a good fit for THEIR organization.. . When I was in hiring mode, I tossed stuff with cover letters that started, "Dear Hiring Manager." I tossed resumes that had a stack of "bullets" without mention of accomplishments. Yeah, I may have tossed some good candidates, but because they didn't bother to take the time to demonstrate their interest and abilities to me, I didn't feel particularly obligated to take the time with them.. . My approach did get us some awesome talent. Retention climbed from 60% to over 90%.

Thank you..
