can someone proof read this and check that its all good and give me suggestions i really wanted to write more:. To Head of Year 10,. My name is ____________________ and I would like to apply for the position of a prefect. There are several compelling reasons why I should be selected over other candidates for the role. Firstly, it is a position that works with younger years, and I have experience with talking to and connecting with students of a younger age than myself. Secondly, I have already proved myself to many teachers that I can be a mature, responsible student and becoming a prefect can help me develop my responsibility skills and my self-confidence in talking in front of people. Many people seem to get off topic while in a classroom, even if there is a class test going on, however I proved during a practice physics ISA that I can overcome the barriers of people talking and time shortage and really apply myself to my work. My third and final point is that I already have ideas on how to improve certain areas in the way our year group is run. I am one of the onlookers in scenes of chaos, and I can hear the voices of those pushed to the back and ignored, because being popular and the centre of attention sometimes means they can ignore the people whose opinions may be greater than the peoples who talk too much. If everyone always talked and nobody listened, then the world would not be a sane place to live. . One main skill I believe would receive if I were to be given the role of a prefect would be leadership skills which are vital for the future. Not only would this help me to gain leadership skills but it would also help to increase my confidence massively which is also vital for the future. This opportunity would further be something to put on application letters for jobs, sixth forms and universities in the future and this is one of the main reasons why I feel so strongly about becoming a prefect.. I think I am a suitable candidate for the role. I am rarely stopped by teachers for my uniform, I do not use my phone during lessons and I have never dyed my hair a colour unsuitable for school or had a piercing that is against school rules. Also, I know that my attendance is not the best in the school, but I believe that taking a day off every few months is not unhealthy, mainly because it would be helping others. If I was seriously ill and had a very bad cold, I would consider it better to stay home for a day and get better than go to school and possibly infect someone else. Also, I believe I am a good role model because I do not harass other students at the school as I have seen has happened in the hallways at Hazelwick. . I have not gotten involved in as many school activities as I would have liked, however that is because many activities in the school are athletic and I am not as fit as other people who beat me out for the parts. Also I am not good at drama so I never got involved in plays and such. Another thing is that I am decent at art, however I feel as though I do not have the certain skills to involve myself in any art competitions. As you can see, my lack of involvement within school competitions has resulted in my lack of self-esteem and I believe this is a good way to start to build it up. Many employers would rather have a fairly confident person rather than a spineless introvert. . Also, I am a suitable candidate for the role because I have never been expelled, excluded or even referred out of a lesson. This means I already have the abilities to behave myself in class whereas other people I know who are applying have been referred at least twice in the past school year. I have had detentions, mostly in Spanish, because I am not good at memorising long lists. However I rarely get detentions for other subjects. . I hope you will consider me for the role, even if I am not selected I am happy to be a pupil at _____________ and grateful for everything I have been taught over the past four years. I would be honoured to give something back to the school that has given me so much and I have gained many skills and abilities and I feel as though I could teach some of these skills to the younger years. I have a vacation planned in November. My 17 year old has decided he does not want to go and wants to stay home alone while I am gone. If I leave him, he will be home alone for 4 days.
