  • Gregg A. Shivers, a founding partner at Shivers, Gosnay & Greatrex, LLC, has tried nearly 100 jury trials since becoming a member of the New Jersey State and Federal Bars in 1983. He is certified by the Supreme Court of New Jersey as a Civil Trial Attorney. Certification is only granted after the Supreme Court reviews recommendations of trial judges and opposing attorneys, receives proof of significant experience and continuing education in civil trial practice and the attorney passes an extensive written test. Less than 4% of the active attorneys in New Jersey have been certified by the Supreme Court as Civil Trial Attorneys.

Gregg's practice focuses on representing individuals who have been seriously injured by the negligent or intentional acts of others including asbestos exposure, medical negligence, defective products, negligent security, serious tractor-trailer and motor vehicle collisions and whistle blower violations. He has brought many cases against asbestos manufacturers who knowingly exposed millions of workers to the manufacturers' deadly products without protection or warning and represents a number of clients against physicians and health care facilities for negligent and intentional conduct. In one case, Gregg brought suit against a doctor who sexually molested a female patient and despite the absence of insurance coverage, he recovered a $275,000 verdict against the doctor's personal assets. He also obtained a $4.8 million verdict against Trump Casino for negligent Security.

Gregg has brought cases on behalf of seriously injured clients against such large corporate defendants as Owens Corning, GAF, General Electric, Westinghouse and Trump Marina Hotel & Casino and has tried several of those cases to juries, winning six and seven figure verdicts for his clients. In 1995, Gregg won one of the ten largest verdicts in the entire State on behalf of a widow whose husband died from asbestos-related cancer. He continues to use his 12 years of prosecutorial experience in the defense of his clients in municipal courts throughout South Jersey and he has represented small businesses in contract disputes. Many of the clients that Gregg represents are referred to him by other attorneys.

After graduating from Rutgers Law School in 1983, Gregg spent ten years as a Prosecutor in Burlington County, successfully and aggressively prosecuting murder, rape and child abuse cases. Starting in 1989, Gregg led a team of prosecutors, detectives and social workers in creating New Jersey's first Child Advocacy Center for the Prosecution of Child Abuse. The Center became a national model and, as a result of the work done at the Center, Gregg successfully prosecuted dozens of dangerous sex offenders who received long prison sentences. He was also the Prosecutor's liaison to the New Jersey State Police - Major Crimes Unit and, in that capacity, successfully prosecuted several high profile homicide cases including one in which charges were brought, and a conviction obtained, over twenty years after the crime was committed. Gregg is proud of his work as a prosecutor and the many relationships that he developed during those ten years continue to benefit him professionally and enrich his life.

As a member of the New Jersey State Bar Association, the Burlington County Bar Association, and the American Association for Justice(New Jersey and National), Gregg is able to keep up to date on changes and trends in the law and he has the enormous resources of those organizations available to use on behalf of his clients. Our law firm's state of the art computer/internet capabilities are also an asset that Gregg uses to maximize services to his clients.

Gregg has served on the board of trustees for several service organizations including the South Jersey Survivors of Violent Crime (SJSVC), Homes of Hope and the Camden Community Center. SJSVC honored Gregg in 1993 for his service to the victims of violent crime. Gregg has been an adjunct professor of trial advocacy at Rutgers School of Law in Camden and taught criminal law at Burlington County College. He has also been a visiting lecturer on trial advocacy a number of times at Widener School of Law in Wilmington.

Gregg grew up in several South Jersey communities where his father served as a pastor in the United Methodist Church. Gregg worked his way through Rutgers College in Camden by taking full time jobs as a youth corrections officer, an apprentice machinist, a supermarket clerk and a printer's helper. Gregg lives with his wife and children in Medford Township where they stay busy with many civic and church activities.

How to send Letters Within India?

My eight year old will write smack dab in the middle of a piece of plain paper "I think Mom is great" . It rocks my world.. My point is it does not have to be fancy...just the the fact that you went through the effort is what they see.. It really is the thought that counts.. And I agree with one answer especially that it should be from you...not the general public.

How do you make a marketing plan?

I want to keep my full name, but just add a second name to my 'first name'. The name is after a Roman emperor whom I admire, I don't have a specific reason as to why I want to change it
