    In addition to his work as a litigator and counselor, he has served as a mediator and arbitrator and is a member of the Panel of Early Neutral Evaluators for the United States District Court for the District of Vermont and the early neutral evaluation panels for the Vermont Environmental Court and a Vermont Superior Courts.

    Vermont Governor Howard Dean appointed Richard was as a Vermont Member of the Uniform Law Commission in 1994. He served as a member of the Drafting Committee on the Model Punitive Damages Act, the Drafting Committee on the Revised Uniform Arbitration Act, the Drafting Committee on the Apportionment of Tort Responsibility Act, and Scope & Program Committee, and he chaired the Drafting Committee on the Uniform Collateral Consequences of Conviction Act. He is a former Secretary of the Commission, a member of its Executive Committee, serves on its Committee on Liaison with the American Bar Association, and Chairs its Scope and Program Committee.

    Richard represents the Vermont Bar Association in the American Bar Association House of Delegates and is the Chair of the Standing Committee on the Delivery of Legal Services. He served as a member of the ABA Board Governors from 2005 through 2008.

    He was a long-time member of the Vermont Board of Bar Examiners serving as both chair of the board and examiner until 2004.

    He is a director and a former President of the American Counsel Association.

    Richard is a frequent writer and speaker on legal topics. He has lectured on trial practice, employment, arbitration, mediation, and construction law subjects before the American Bar Association, the National Employment Lawyers' Association, the Vermont Bar Association, the Vermont Trial Lawyers Association, and the Vermont Employment Lawyers' Association.

    A South Burlington resident, Richard has been very active as a member of the South Burlington School Board and has chaired the Board since 2007.

    He also served as Chair of the Vermont Solid Waste and Air Quality Variance Board from 1993 through 2005.

    In 2012, he was elected by the Vermont Democratic Party as a member of the Democratic National Committee.

    He serves as an Acting Judge on regular basis in the Small Claims Division of the Chittenden Superior Court.

    When he's not practicing law or in a committee meeting, Richard enjoys reading, walking Baxter the dog, skiing, swimming, and rowing his Adirondack Guide Boat on Lake Champlain.

    Verdicts and Settlements

    Richard Cassidy has obtained many millions of dollars of settlements and verdicts for his clients.?The punitive damage portion of this $2.3 million dollar verdict in a hazing case, Brueckner v. Norwich University, 169 Vt. 118; 730 A.2d 1086 (1999), was reversed by a split decision on appeal, but the award of compensatory damages was upheld and established the important legal proposition that a University may be responsible for the acts of hazing committed by student leaders authorized to orient and indoctrinate first-year students. W. Kaplin and B. Lee, The Law of Higher Education, at 312. (4th Edition, Jossey-Bass (2007)).

    Other notable results include the recovery of many hundreds of thousands of dollars in a number of employment discrimination cases, a $700,000 settlement in a slip and fall case, and this year, a $3.6 million dollar settlement in a combined employment/commercial dispute.

That's what I can think of and it should be legal and valid in USA once it's been notarized by a notary officer in any US consulate. Good luck.

If you are applying at a company where you already know someone who works there, it might not hurt to say something like, "I've had the pleasure of speaking with several acquaintances* who work for your company, and they have all had good things to say, such as... From their comments, XXX company seems to be a very positive working environment. I am looking for a position where employees' achievements are appreciated, etc... and XXX company seems to offer the type of environment where I can develop my skills, etc... In turn, I offer...". If you are using this approach, don't drop names or details about your friends. Instead of using the word 'acquaintance', you might even just say that you spoke with 'some company employees'. This way, you won't raise any flags. Some companies don't like to hire friends or relatives of current employees, so keep it as discreet as possible.. . Lastly, a cover letter lets the employer see how well you write and communicate. By that, I don't mean handwriting. I mean, can you communicate effectively via the written word? Do you have good grammar and spelling? Do you write clearly and politely? Can you write a cohesive paragraph? These are all very important skills, especially since we rely so much on email and the Internet for much of our day to day communications today.. . So yes, a cover letter, tailored specifically to the job for which you are applying, is very important and should be done carefully. It IS your marketing tool, for in it, you are selling YOURSELF. Your resume sells your skills, but the cover letter sells YOU.. . Good luck!

Yes, I would agree with that. It goes on the assumption made by governments and urban planners that the working classes are the bulk of the population. They earn the lowest incomes so are most likely to resort to crime, and they are assumed to be the least intelligent and thus not care too much about the consequences of their actions (though I would disagree about them being all that unintelligent!). Such a demographic is thus deemed the most likely to be troublesome and rebellious, and in need of control. This is done by insidious urban planning. It masquerades as convenient city design with housing and transport links provided en masse, but there are also other reasons.. . Perhaps the biggest example of this is the Baron Haussmann design of Paris. After the revolutions of 1789 and 1848, Haussmann was appointed city refurbisher, with the design brief of making Paris safer, both for its citizens and for its rulers. At this time, what the moneyed classes of Paris feared most was the descent of the revolutionary mob from the poorer quarters to the east such as Belleville, which had a reputation for the people power for such uprisings. To counter this, the Canal Saint Martin was constructed north-east of the centre, to defend against such a people movement, and entire areas were reconstructed.. . Close-knit knots of streets in slum areas were knocked down and its people displaced, in order to scatter them away from the hubs of wealth and power in the city. These areas, which had before been impregnable dens of plotting and uprising, were levelled, and newer, wider straight streets with low-rise buildings were built in their place. This had the ulterior motive of making Paris more open, and also much easier for troops and riot police to be transported around the city in times of need. Broad boulevards were deemed harder for people to barricade, and were also linked to the main train stations, so that security forces from the provinces could arrive and be easily deployed if they were called upon. Such planning is widely believed to be the reason why the Paris Commune in 1871 only lasted for about a week, rather than the longer previous revolutions. It is also believed to be the inspiration for the 'grid' design of cities in New World countries such as the USA, Canada, Australia and Argentina.. . In many cities around the world a more segregationist approach is taken, with areas deemed to be more working class or 'troublesome' barriered off from wealthier areas, by a transport link of some kind. This has the effect of hemming in possible problematic groups, and confining them to areas from which they are unlikely to stray too often, and where they can be easily reached if 'control' is required.

I am looking for a template for a letter I'm writing to my city's parks department requesting modifications to a tennis court to better fit the needs of a bike polo club that meets there twice per week. Nobody else uses these courts as there are much nicer courts within walking distance.
