  • Eric has been engaged in the private practice of law since 1993 during which time he has handled hundreds of Criminal Trials, Appeals and Administrative Hearings. Eric took a break from private practice when he served as a Staff Attorney for the Office of the Federal Public Defender in the Central District of Illinois between 2000-2002. Prior to entering private practice, Eric was employed as Deputy Chief Legal Counsel and as a Senior Staff Attorney for the Illinois Department of Nuclear Safety from 1986 - 1993. Eric served as legal and policy advisor to the Director of the Department and to the Central Midwest Interstate Low Level Radioactive Waste Commission. Eric has served as a Special Assistant Attorney General and has drafted and reviewed statutes and regulations. Eric represented the Department and the Commission at legislative hearings, served as the Department's hearing officer, coordinated work of outside counsel, reviewed and responded to federal and state programs affecting the conduct of the Department's business, and negotiated and prepared contracts and grants on behalf of the Department and the Commission.

    From 1982- 1986, Eric was the Chief of the Office of Radioactive Waste Management, Michigan Department of Public Health, Division of Radiological Health, Lansing, Michigan, where he coordinated and supported all state programs for high- and low-level radioactive waste management, served as technical, legal, and policy advisor, served as staff for the Governor's High-Level Radioactive Waste Task Force, the Radioactive Waste Control Committee, and the Midwest Interstate Low-Level Radioactive Waste Commission, provided liaison with various federal and state agencies, responded to specific instances of actual low-level radioactive waste management legislation, coordinated state programs related to transportation of radioactive waste and supervised the office staff.

    From 1980 - 1982, Eric was employed as a Radiochemist for the Michigan Department of Public Health, Division of Radiological Health in Lansing, Michigan where he was assigned to both the radiochemistry and emergency response units and his duties included obtaining and analyzing environmental samples, initiating and maintaining a radiation monitoring system.

    Eric received his Doctor of Law Degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School, his Bachelor of Arts from Michigan State University.
