I need information/advice about preparing the future for a disabled family member in the event of my death.?

I am getting married next weekend, and I am curious to how long the process will take for me to change my last name. I understand that I will have to go to the Social Security Administration, DHSMV, and notify other places.. but what is the documentation that I will need? I was thinking that I could go to all of these places the following monday after our wedding. However, upon doing some research, I have read that you need to have a certified copy of your marriage license that the courthouse mails to you, once you send in your signed license. If this is true, I am assuming I will not be able to change my last name for maybe a few weeks? If anyone can please give me additional information concerning this, it would be appreciated. If it helps any, I am in Florida. I am curious because I would need to take that Monday off if I go, and I don't want to take a day off to be wasted if I am not going to be able to accomplish anything..

my mom gave power of attorney to my dad regarding of her property in india in 1981. she got divorce in 1989. . Is that power of attorney is still effective. Is my dad still can use that POA. All my documents have my maiden name. Some people tell me all I have to do is go the ssa office to make the change since my license and passport and everything else has my maiden name. Other people tell me I have to do the change through the court. I would prefer not to go through the court but I want to make sure I chose the most effective way. Can anyone tell me if I can simply go to the ssa office to change my name back to my maiden name? Thanks!.
