A model release form is NOT a scam and any reputable photographer will require one before photographing you. They need a copy of your DL to verify that you are 18 or older -- but you can bring this to the shoot. If you are not 18 he cannot shoot you without a parent present and a parent signing the Model Release form. . A model release form protects both the model and photographer and lays out exactly how the photos can and cannot be used. Normally a model release form will allow the model to use the photos to promote themselves through their own website or portfolio but they cannot use these photos for financial gain.
