In 1971, when the New York Times and the Washington Post began publication of the documents known as the Pentagon Papers, The Nixon Administration sought to prohibit this publication. A divided Supreme Court, by a vote of 6-3, ruled that the government had not shown that these documents were outside the protection of the First Amendment. One of the lower court judges who had review and ruled on the government's initial application to block the publication spoke eloquently to the notion that the government should have the power to suppress such publications: "The security of the Nation is not at the ramparts alone. Security also lies in the value of our free institutions. A cantankerous press, an obstinate press, an ubiquitous press must be suffered by those in authority in order to preserve the even greater values of freedom of expression and the right of the people to know.". . You are right, that the media do not publish all opinions, and most media outlets chose what to publish in part based on content and viewpoint. This is only natural. Media outlets are privately owned, and they have rights much like that of a property owner regarding who gets to come in. For example, Human Events is an arch-conservative publication, where Ann Coulter is a columnist. If I submitted an article to Human Events condemning the Obama Administration for not adopting rigidly Maoist controls, Human Events would never publish it. On the other hand, Ann Coulter cannot get published in the journals International Socialist Quarterly or Libertarian Communism. Does this violate the First Amendment? No. In fact it would violate the First Amendment if the government required these publications to present something that they could not agree with.

This is my first time leasing my property to hunters. I'd like to limit it to two hunters during bow season. I've had hunters begging for leases since I bought the place-and now that I'm having a problem with trespassing and poaching (out of season) I've decided it's best I choose who's on my property. Does anyone know the best points to include in a deer lease? And, how much is property in West Michigan leasing for? Per week? Per month? What do hunters prefer to see?.

. I'd love it if someone who's more fluent then I am [not at all order, I honestly suck at French] could please read through and tell me:. a) of any grammatical/spelling errors. b) of any major errors I have there...like if Belgium doesn't have the same education system as France, in which case I would have to shoot myself or something. c) if it's too repetitive, because my vocab is super limited. d) and that being said, if I misused any words.... . Would be a great help, thanks!.

Hi, as i said, we are estranged from our mother. I am 19 (uni student), live with my dad (disabled), my older sister (uni student) and my older brother (first job). Over the last year and a half we have been getting up to 10 letters a WEEK addressed to my mother but using our address. Each of the letters is a debt, all of varying amounts to various debt companies such as CapQuest, banks etc. We are also getting up to five phone calls a DAY from debt companies trying to track her down. She has told them that she lives at our address and the debt should be on our address. It is annoying as we now do not answer the house phone until someone starts to leave a message. My dad is disabled and i feel this is making him worse, with all these threats of balifs etc coming to our door searching for her eventhough she has NEVER lived at our address. . What i want to know is, . a) Is she committing fraud by claiming to be living at our address? (She is disabled - has MS). . b) Is there anything we can do that doesn't cost us money that can stop her from using our address as her debt address - we do not get her statements, just hundreds of threatening letters with her divorced (my dad's) surname (as she has remarried since).. . This is really getting us down, as we are just counting down until a debt collector turns up at our address (balif) who can enter a property if they get a foot over the threshold. Over the family grapevine we have been told her debt is over ?65,000. pounds... ridiculous...we have never added up the amounts on the letters we recieve but they average around 2-3000 pounds each letter. . thanks in advance!.
