He received his license as a Certified Public Accountant in New York before relocating to California. He earned a J.D. from New York Law School and an LL.M. in Taxation from the University of San Diego.

  He began his workers compensation career representing injured workers, and subsequently worked as a claims examiner for Sedgwick CMS where he earned his SIP certificate. He has worked as a defense attorney for Floyd, Skeren & Kelly and for the Law Offices of Thomas Maupin. Mr. Kingdon was named as one of California's "Super Lawyers" in workers compensation in 2005.
