  • The Law has always been a passion for me because I strive to remedy the injustices and wrongs experienced by people. Most people do not realize that quality legal help is available for their situation and may provide a solution that helps them cope with their losses and the devastatingly unfair situations that they have been thrust into. People often feel powerless concerning the events that surround and foreshadow them, subsequently impacting the quality of their daily lives on emotional, financial, and psychological levels.

I became an attorney to provide help, compassion, and understanding for people who have been treated unfairly and have suffered severe losses in their life. My primary legal concentrations are working with people who have suffered severe injuries from accidents (motor vehicle, bicycle, motorcycle, dogs) or medical negligence. My medical background and knowledge gives me the ability to understand complex injuries, diseases, and negligent medical care experienced by you or your loved ones.

I am a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), and practiced for many years prior to becoming an attorney. I primarily worked with critically ill and emergency patients with life-threatening injuries and illnesses, as well as medical trauma patients. My medical career allowed me to gain valuable insight and medical knowledge with regards to medical pathophysiology, medications (dosage, administration, and appropriateness) and to the standard and quality of care that each patient and their family members should receive by hospital personnel and physicians.?I currently maintain my respiratory credentials and licensure while continually updating my medical knowledge and expertise through continuing medical education seminars and courses. Additionally, I maintain close professional and personal ties with the local medical community.

I actively provide legal help and business management for professional offices. I became interested and experienced in business management and analysis approximately four years ago and naturally incorporated the legal expertise into it to help both employers and employees. I utilize my expertise to assist and guide both employers and employees with office productivity, adherence to labor laws, fair business practices, contractual negotiations involving other businesses and insurance companies. I strongly believe in treating employees fairly and rewarding them for excellent work while also protecting the employer from difficult and potentially litigious employees. Serving for many years as an employee for various businesses, corporations, and medical facilities instilled within me the importance of being able to enjoy one’s working environment. I believe you should be treated fairly for your efforts and work product, and have a sense of loyalty and deep respect for your employer. It is a personal insult when a hard-working employee is unjustly treated badly (discrimination, wrongful termination, sexual harassment) and not recognized for their accomplishments. I feel equally as strong about protecting employers from employees who take advantage of their generosity and lack of employment law knowledge to further themselves at the employer’s expense whilst simultaneously not giving the employer the appropriate respect, honesty, and workmanship due for providing the employee with wages, benefits, and a positive work environment.

I have worked closely with a recognized San Diego trial attorney (recipient of San Diego Top Trial Attorney and Super Lawyer awards) who has been generous enough to mentor me while in law school and since, with complicated and complex personal injury, medical malpractice, and criminal actions. This has taught me valuable trial skills and strategy tactics that are not achieved through the study of law alone. I am constantly learning from this attorney and regularly seek out his expertise to guide me so I may achieve positive outcomes for my clients.

On a personal note…I am married to a local physician and have one teenage son whose passion is amateur boxing. I was born and raised in Canada (mostly Winnipeg) and have traveled extensively throughout Southeast Asia, with one year spent living and working in Tokyo, Japan, and almost two years living and working in Australia. The experience from traveling and living in other countries taught me to appreciate and obtain a deep understanding and respect for other cultures and their values.

My spare time is spent relaxing with my husband, my son, two dogs (Malamute and Siberian Husky), and two cats (Jungle Hybrids). We enjoy vacationing in Hawaii, which allows me to spend time visiting friends and family (I previously lived in Hawaii for eight years) as well as soaking up the sun on the beautiful Hawaiian beaches. The ability to spend time with my family and keep a balanced work life is important to me and provides a sense of contentment that I am able to pass onto the client in helping them with their legal situation.
