Is real estate a good choice for investing for a child by a parent?

I was wondering when is the best time of the year to buy a house in Southern California for tax purposes or does it not matter when you buy? My husband and I are considering buying a house at the end of next year 2008 or January of 2009 what do you think?. Thank you so much for all your really great answers! This just comfirms what we were thinking all along!!. "Wow" thank you so much Jerrold J for taking the time to write all that!! What awesome information! I really appreciate it, again thanks so much!!.

On December of 2010, I was discharged form my job at Blue Cross and Blue Shield from South Carolina. Looking deep into the circumstances of my termination, I concluded that it was racially motivated. I was subjected to bullying day in and Day out while my manager not even once intervene to either clam down the situation or put the bullies in their places. As a matter of fact, Bullying is terrorism since thy use the same tactic of psychological or physical violence to make someone behave a certain way. Now after more than 180 days, the EEOC where I filed the charges right after my termination, failed to Even Begin an investigation. When I called them in that regard, they said that it will be a little bit hard to prove a case of discrimination. I ask them to issue me a right to sue letter which they did. My question is Would I be successful in court suing my manager not for Discrimination, but for failing to maintain a work free workplace free of terrorism. I have the numerous emails I have been sending him since I started the Job in 2007. What are the odds of me winning successfully?.

I have $170,000 to be used for all my expenses during 5 years of school and am looking for a safe, hands-free place to invest it. I have worked out my budget for the next 5 years and this money should be enough to cover my expenses if it grows above inflation. I am not interested in purchasing real estate, owning a business, or managing a large stock portfolio, so I would be grateful for any ideas regarding the best way to invest this money for the next 5 years. I will need to be able to withdraw 20% of the money each year to cover my expenses. Money-market savings accounts and certificates of deposit do not appear to have high enough interest rates to be viable options. The only option that I have found so far are Treasury Inflation-Protected Securities (TIPS) and Vanguard Inflation-Protected Securities (VIPSX) looks to be the best TIPS, but I don?t know enough about inflation, diversification or investing to know if putting the entire $170,000 in a TIPS for 5 years is the best option. I would greatly appreciate any financial planning advice regarding my situation. If you could map out the specific investment vehicles or sketch a composite portfolio for the $170,000 I would be very thankful. This would be easier for me if I was investing for the long term, but my 5 year window, expense requirements, and the current inflation outlook and bear market make my situation very confusing. Thanks for your help..

Can someone please help me with writing a letter????

Can someone please give me a description about the concept of double standards. ASAP.
