• Kara Hadican Samuels is a member of the New Orleans Bar Association, the Jefferson Bar Association, the Louisiana State Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association, the American Bar Association, the American Association for Justice, and the Louisiana Association for Justice (LAJ), and currently serves on the Board of Governors of LAJ. She has also served as the past chair of the Women’s Caucus of LAJ, as well as the Friends Committee Co-Chair of the National Association of Women Judges (2013 National Convention). In 2012, she was appointed by Governor Jindal to serve on the Louisiana Medical Disclosure Panel as a representative of LAJ and rolled off of the board of the Young Lawyers’ Division of the New Orleans Chapter of the Federal Bar Association.Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Kara moved to the New Orleans area to receive her undergraduate education at Loyola University New Orleans, where she obtained a B.A. in Drama and Speech, cum laude. She also represents insureds in coverage disputes, works on the plaintiffs' side of complex litigation cases, and maintains an appellate practice. Kara's practice additionally includes the handling of the Enterobacter sakazakii ("E. sak") infant formula contamination cases. She has been appointed by the courts as class counsel in two matters: the Ochnser embryo litigation (concerning the mishandling and mislabeling of human embryos that occurred at Ochsner Fertility Clinic) and the Tulane Endoscope litigation (concerning the hospital’s failure to disinfect properly its endoscopic devices prior to patients’ procedures).
