    For as long as I can remember I've always dreamt about owning my own business. Due to outer influences by my mother and teachers I start a degree in education. I'm realizing again that owning a business was my passion, not teaching. I want to start taking the first steps in starting a business but i'm not sure where to start. If anyone out there has experience in something like this please comment with a few tips and advice on what I can do now to get going on my dream. It would e greatly appreciated. You should get a voter registration card within a few days, and after that you should get a reminder notification where to vote, the address and a phone number to contact should you want to use the option of absentee ballot. Make sure that when you go to the polls on election/primary day to take a picture ID along with your voter registration card.. . Happy Voting - it is your right.

    It's a form that basically tells the university you are applying for that you are basically not a bad dude.. . The dean of your college would be a good candidate to sign this or whatever person in authority. Just tell them that you need this to study in the Philippines and make a letter and have them duplicate it using a paper bearing your school's letterhead.. . A format can be something like this (you can make it better of course). . CERTIFICATE OF GOOD MORAL CHARACTER. . This is to certify that we personally know (your name) who is a student in our school from such and such date.. . We believe him/her to be a person of good moral character.

    Well, it's review time and I've been thinking about the raise I hope I get. I've taken on so much more than I originally agreed, and had to set aside the things I was hired to do that I actually wanted. I joked about a raise when she added the doc, but we settled for a new chair. This is a state university and raises are only considered once a year after the state legislature approves a budget.. . Well, the state approved a budget increase, but we got a letter from the president saying that due to the economy, they're proceeding with caution and there will be no merit increases. On top of that, the manager said that her new admin model is going to be 3-to-1, so even if she moves my "foster doctor" to someone else, she'll still give me another one. I think I've had about enough. Not only not getting a raise, but doing more than I ever agreed to do for this amount of pay. I adore my other two doctors, but there are several positions available in other departments that aren't as cheap and greedy, and I think maybe I should look out for #1.. . What would you do?. J-Acc, I know where you're coming from, but let me clarify a little (I was trying to keep it short): I've been an admin for decades, so I know the job fluctuates and I go with the flow, but university-wide the admin load is 2-to-1, so it would raise eyebrows if I mentioned it in an interview. I think she's planning on doing this because--silly me--I have been able to pull it off. These are medical school faculty surgeons with a residency program. It's not like just adding a VP to the roster (where I've supported five before), it's a serious load. Despite the economy, I thought my efforts would be rewarded. I'm the only one in the department of six senior admins who has done this (and who would be able to). They asked me to file a formal protest, but I didn't. As for my attitude, everyone loves me. :) When I told foster doc that the manager was interviewing (we have four new faculty starting in the next few months), he frowned and said he'd rather keep me. Awww!. KelKat, they are surprisingly discreet in HR about people hopping departments. Two co-workers have moved on, and HR makes all the arrangements for interviewing and such. Since it's within the university it's easier to run around. They don't say anything to your current manager until there's an offer. Pretty cool!. OMG! My fave doc just confided that he's submitting his resignation. He's really playing a game of chicken, but will go if he doesn't get what he wants. He's threatened to quit before, but this is the first time he's put it in writing. We have this "pact" that he has to take me with him. Maybe I should hang with it for the drama. I'm telling you, no one in this department is all that happy. I've never worked in a place with such LOW morale. I'm a one-girl pep squad and running out of steam..
