    like you im fed up with completing long winded application forms.. down on my luck a bit i applied last week for a shop assistants job. like they asked, i emailed a cv and cover letter and back came an 8 page pdf application form with all the usual stuff but also spaces to write 500 word essays about why ive always wanted to work for them and why they are so good at what they do, why are they the market leaders, how i can help them in their quest for world domination, that kind of thing.. its a shop assistants job worth ?10k not the chairmanship of telecom, i reckon that if i'm punctual, hard working, polite and tidy that should be enough. if i need to write sycophantic prose to the standards of hemingway to get an interview then it shows all the signs of a company with an HR department that doesnt really know what the hell it's doing?. 10 and 20 years ago things were far more informal. one interview i remember was in a pub another in a cafe and back in the 70's I was actually given one job on the 'phone!

    It looks like you may need a bit more job experience to fill out your resume before you can start applying for office positions. 3 months isn't a terribly long time, so many employers would be likely to pass over that experience. You might have to start "at the bottom" with entry-level positions in fast food or something similar. If you are really set on office work, you could try working with a temp agency which will set you up with an employer for a limited time. At the very least, you will gain valuable job experience.. . Also, I'd be hurrying to get that cover letter template typed up, because that often makes the difference between what appears to be a well thought-out application and a hastily submitted one. You will have to do a bit of tweaking and adjusting for each position, but it can make all the difference.. . You can also try brushing up on your interview skills if you don't feel incredibly confident. Just remember to prepare yourself ahead of time by thinking of possible questions to ask, keep calm and confident, and always dress professionally.
