The basic format can be different for different reasons, but all should contain specific information related to why you are applying for a job, and why you think you will be best candidate.. . The purpose of a cover letter is to introduce yourself, and ask for an interview. . You won't be selected for an interview if there are mistakes, misspellings, bad grammar, in the cover letter.. . You convince the reader that you are truly interested and skilled for the job you want.. . Do not say, "I'll take any job", but explain why the exact job you want is the best for you, and how you can help the company you want to work for.. . Saying things like "I am dependable, in good health, and have always received the highest praise from past employers" will sound better than saying: "I've been unemployed for 3 months and will take any job.". . Look at my resouce below for more help.

The truth is, most schools have their applications on line in PDF format. Go to your guidance counselor (or library) and look at the catalogs from the schools you are interested in. Or, go online to the website of each school and download their application. No one is going to care what your request for an application looks like. As a matter of fact, most schools would prefer that you send them a postcard with your information on it. It's what ON the application, your transcripts, your references, and your personal statement that they will look at.
