The Los Angeles, California, lawyers of Berger & Michelena possess a command of the legal terrain that is both strategic and practical. This command allows them to move your case forward diligently and confidently despite opposition from the insurance companies and even from your employer. With more than 100 years of combined experience, our firm's attorneys possess a comprehensive understanding of workers' compensation law.

Perhaps more important, they understand how that law is actually applied and practiced by the real people who work in our legal system: doctors, lawyers, judges and office staff. This kind of practical knowledge can sometimes mean the difference between winning and losing your case. The judgment of the firm's lawyers has been recognized by the other attorneys at the bar through various honors and chairpersonships. Perhaps the most important form of recognition, though, is that many attorneys refer some of their most complex cases to us because of our recognized ability in complex injury cases.

In many cases, our firm's lawyers have dealt with these same people on many occasions. We understand how the legal process works on a very local and personal level.

When to use population mean/mode/median (mu)

You do not pay the taxes. The estate pays any taxes due before the estate is distributed to the heir(s).. . Please accept my condolences for the loss of your family.. This is what I would tell my own children (18 and 22).. . Don't do anything with your inheritance for at least one year. You need to allow yourself time to grieve before you make any major decisions. Do not sell or donate anything at this point. Your grief is still too fresh and you are so young that it is harder and may take longer for you to get past the worst of your grief. Do not let anyone tell you how or how long to grieve. Please consider talking with a grief counselor to help you through this time. Especially talk with a counselor at the college. Transitioning to college is hard enough without grieving. The college has counseling resources to help you. Use them!.. There is nothing that needs to be done right now except get yourself ready for school in the fall. Put enough money into a checking account to cover your school costs (books, housing, etc.) along with a few thousand extra for pizza and some entertainment. That way you can just use a debit card to pay for things and that will make your life easier.. . I am assuming that your parents had a financial advisor, a CPA, or an attorney. Start there and schedule a meeting with him/her/them. Tell them that you do not want to make any changes to the estate at this point but that you will need some cash to open an account with which to pay for your college, etc. Ask about any financial matters that need to be dealt with in the coming year (property taxes, etc.) and how those matters will be taken care of. Do not sign or give a Power of Attorney to ANYONE!. . Do a little reading and educate yourself about the whole "Finance" thing. Read anything by Ray Lucia, Ed Slott, or Ric Edelman (start with Lucia since he is more comprehensive. Slott writes about IRA, 401(k)s, etc. and Edelman writes about mutual funds.) When you are feeling a bit more knowledgeable interview a few Certified Financial Planners (CFPs). Talk with them and ask for a sample plan. Choose the one (and the plan) that you feel most comfortable with.. If you have an Aunt or Uncle that you feel close to and trust, ask them to help you. If there is no one in your family, there must be another adult (maybe the parent of a friend or a teacher) that you feel comfortable asking to help you out with the business stuff. The more that you kearn, the more "in control" you will feel.. . Your family wanted to give you a good start in life. While I understand the impulse to donate it all and "get rid of it" because you are in such pain, that would be going against your parents wishes for you. They (and your Grandparents) left this to be a blessing for your life. I know it doesn't seem like a blessing right now because you would rather have them, just give yourself some time to grow up and grow into this situation.
