I am currently pursuing a BA in journalism at the University of Maryland. I have not applied to the school of Journalism because i still need to finish my gen-eds before i can apply. BUT recently I've been thinking about changing and pursuing a career in Sociology. I would like for any person who has graduated with a BA sociology to tell me the positives and negatives of the major. I would also like to know how it played out when you started looking for a job. If you are close to a city that has a large chain bookstore (like Barnes & Nobel ) - They have several Power of Attorney Handbooks - some with CD's that have all of the states various forms.. . I just did this for my Parents.. . I got for them.. . Durable Health POA. . Durable Financial POA. . Durable POA. . POA at their financial institutions.. . Living Will. . Will. . You can intervene on her behalf in lieu of a Living Will with a Durable Health POA, but.. . Keep in mind when she dies, your POA's all die.. . She really needs a will. You will be in a huge MESS without a final will.. . Have her sign all the forms in front of two witnesses, not related and not involved in any way with her estate. Have all the forms notarized there all at once.. . Talk her into a living will and more important a will. If not for her, explain that it eliminates a lot of fighting about what everyone 'thinks' she would have wanted.. . A lot of cities also have free seminars on this subject. Call your city and county offices and ask if there are any agencies that deal with aging in your area.. . good luck.
