• John Hauser was born and raised in Latrobe and is an integral part of the Westmoreland County legal community. After graduating from Latrobe High School in 1997, he subsequently attended Westminster College, where he graduated cum laude in 2001, attaining a Bachelor of Science Degree in the double-majors of Economics and Political Science. In 2004, Attorney Hauser received his juris doctorate from The Law School at Duquesne University and he is admitted to practice before the Pennsylvania Supreme Court and the United States District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania. Attorney Hauser is a member of the Pennsylvania Bar Association, the Westmoreland Bar Association, and the American Inns of Court. In conjunction with these affiliations, Attorney Hauser serves on the Westmoreland Bar Association Planning Committee, serves on the Board of the Ned J. Nakles Chapter of the American Inns of Court, and serves as Chairman of the Explorer's Committee of the Westmoreland Bar Association. He is also a member of Holy Family Parish in Latrobe and has volunteered with Westmoreland County Pro Bono Assistance program in every year since his admission to practice law.

  After practicing in Latrobe for more than 6 years and then in Greensburg for 2 and one-half years, John recently returned his practice to his hometown of Latrobe, where he founded the law firm of Latrobe Law Associates, LLC.   Verdicts and Settlements:

  Attorney Hauser has personally tried and or/settled numerous products liability and personal injury cases, including causes of action for a mis-filled prescription causing illness, defective medical devices causing pain, and defective mechanisms including a $265,000 settlement against the undisclosed manufacturer of a defective carbon monoxide detector. He also regularly handles slip and fall, dog-bite, automobile, and other personal injury actions. In addition to personal injury cases, Attorney Hauser also handles litigation for property damage and contract disputes. In a recent suit for the loss of a thoroughbred horse, obtained a settlement of more than seven times the price that was paid for the horse one-year prior to its loss.

Sorry to hear that you're going through this. It's such a disappointment when companies do this kind of thing. But no, I, for one, have never encountered such a condition. Although you haven't mentioned any specific details about the situation in terms of what exactly is written in that offer letter, from the legal perspective, if you have a written----and signed----letter or contract from the CEO, that sounds like it could be a possible breach of contract. Even if it's not an official "employment contract," what is offered or promised, either in the form of a written letter, job posting ad, or even what is said in a job interview (verbal contract), the employer has full obligation to fulfill that their offer. Any legitimate corporation SHOULD have enough legal knowledge to fulfill that obligation. And depending upon what the promises are, some "offered details" (such as health insurance) might take 90 days, 6 months, or even 12 months probational period to take effect, as many companies have changed their benefits policies as an attempt at budget cut during this current economic recession. Since you didn't list the details of those promises, I would recommend that you hang on to that letter as evidence----even if a letter is in the form of an email, that is still a LEGAL DOCUMENT. You should take that letter to consult with a local attorney.
