The business administration education that you are receiving is the STRONG suit in this thing for YOU -- the secretarial background will serve as a major, fundamental knowledge base AND a "fall back" to help establish you in the endeavors that you make in the future -- BUT -- the administrative level within business will be your strong point when it comes to a solid money centered arrangement for your future !!. Until you are in a position where YOU are the one calling the shots-- you will always be a the beck and call of an employer -- and secretarial jobs are the world's worst for being weighed on for all kinds of added responsibilities that one NEVER gets compensated for fully OR appreciated for -- hardly ever !!. Look into the fields of Finance, Real Estate, or Estate Management and plan to seek an entry level position for "training" somewhere within a year or so OF your graduation -- there are a lot of companies out there that would jump at the chance to have an entry level individual that is at the verge of graduation to do training with in a short distance OF their graduation -- just to have that person on board and trained with basics AT degree time !!. . Good Luck to you in all that you pursue !!!

like you im fed up with completing long winded application forms.. down on my luck a bit i applied last week for a shop assistants job. like they asked, i emailed a cv and cover letter and back came an 8 page pdf application form with all the usual stuff but also spaces to write 500 word essays about why ive always wanted to work for them and why they are so good at what they do, why are they the market leaders, how i can help them in their quest for world domination, that kind of thing.. its a shop assistants job worth ?10k not the chairmanship of telecom, i reckon that if i'm punctual, hard working, polite and tidy that should be enough. if i need to write sycophantic prose to the standards of hemingway to get an interview then it shows all the signs of a company with an HR department that doesnt really know what the hell it's doing?. 10 and 20 years ago things were far more informal. one interview i remember was in a pub another in a cafe and back in the 70's I was actually given one job on the 'phone!
