If by "ancestors of Christians" you mean Jews, that was not the case. The Acts of the Apostles and the Letters of Paul indicate strong Jewish resistance to the idea of Jesus-as-Messiah, and especially as "Son of God". To be sure, there was a lot of religious ferment at the time. The Maccabean War was recent enough to be remembered, as well as the disastrous Hasmonean dynasty that showed self-rule was not always ideal. The Jews were tired of the Roman occupation and were looking for a liberator to bring back the old Israel. But they expected one that matched the predictions, one that acted like a divinely appointed king, someone at least as bold and effective as Judah Maccabee. Jesus just didn't fit the template.. . The true "ancestors of Christianity", the people who dumped their religion for Jesus, had already dumped their religion years before. They were the Gentiles who had become fascinated by Judaism and abandoned the gods of Greece and Rome for the simplicity of monotheism. But many of the laws of Torah were difficult for them, particularly circumcision and keeping kosher. They were merely Jewish wannabees.. . Christianity offered them an opportunity to adopt monotheism without the regulatory burden. And there was a bonus, fully-realized salvation! Christians offered an imminent, happy ending to life that was hard to resist. The Gentiles had much less to learn and understand in Christianity than there was in Judaism. All one had to do was love each other, respect and take care of others, and believe in the Resurrection.. . There was some crazy stuff going on, but the Jesus-shaped hole was not in Judaism, but in its Gentile fanbase.

All women have to do to change to a spouse's name is to show the marriage license and request a change of name for passport, driver's license, etc. Men, I don't know. I doubt it is so simple. You could try the website of Britain's passport office and see if this issue is addressed. You may have to file in court for a legal name change. It's not a complicated nor expensive process. You simply fill out the forms, appear before a judge who wants to make sure you're not being deceitful or attempting a fraud. Then he signs and all is well with the world. Good luck.

Who has the land? If it's your brother, he can give you power of attorney from prison for the purpose of selling the land. If it's still in the name of your father, you need to do a probate quickly and get it into your name. File the probate, get yourself appointed executrix, personal representative or administrator (same thing/ different names in different states). Then you do a deed from you as your father's administrator to you as an individual and you can sell the land. The deed would read something like: "Mary Smith, personal representative of the estate ofJohn Smith, grants to Mary Smith the following described real property......" My state has probate forms at the probate court or they can be downloaded from the court website. This is probably a probate you can do without an atty.
