  • I began my legal career in Kansas City, Missouri, providing legal representation to individuals charged with violating criminal laws from misdemeanors to felonies - in state and federal courts. From 1989 - 2007, I was an Assistant Federal Public Defender, rising to the position of First Assistant. During my 18 years at the Federal Public Defender's office, I defended individuals charged with all types of crimes, including high profile cases involving white collar crime, drugs, computer crimes, weapons offenses, conspiracy and death penalty defense.

While attending Adams State College in Alamosa, CO, I was a member of the Associated Student Government and was President of the student body my senior year. One of the programs which I instituted while President was a student legal services program which ensured all Adams State students had access to legal representation regardless of personal fiances.

During law school at Ohio Northern University, I participated in the Celebreeze Moot Court competition and also did an internship with the Lima, Ohio prosecutor's office.

I received additional training in conducting criminal defense trials attending the National Criminal Defense College in Macon, Georgia.

I honorably served my country in the United States Navy for 6 years.

On a personal level, I am s very passionate about golf.

The criminal defense Law Office of David L. Owen, Jr., P.C., focuses on the representation of individuals charged with violating Federal or Colorado criminal laws. Clients benefit from my twenty-two (22) years as a criminal trial attorney. I have handled hundreds of complex criminal jury trials involving all types of felony cases, such as:

AssaultsArsonOffensesFraudTheftBurglaryRobberyKidnappingJuvenile CasesComputer crimesMurder-HomicidePublic corruptionIdentity TheftDrug OffensesIllegal ReentryBank RobberySex OffensesEconomic CrimesFirearms OffensesCounterfeiting

Some of these previous trials have been high profile, with offenses involving : Kidnapping Resulting in Death (a death penalty case), Murder for Hire and, Public Corruption.

Being charged with a criminal offense is a very frightening and life changing event. A good criminal defense attorney will know and fight for your rights. Many times prosecutors are looking to make a name for themselves and will seek a conviction at all costs and without concern for your constitutional rights. Two of those constitutional rights are: the right to trial by a jury of your peers. The other is: every person is innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt. Make sure you have a qualified and experienced criminal trial attorney working for you. My 22 years of criminal trial experience against all types of prosecutors (Federal and State) has given me the tools to fight for your rights.

How you respond to a criminal charge is very important to your rights, now and in the future. There are considerations far beyond the immediate release on bail after being charged with a crime. Should you ever be charged in Federal criminal court, a previous state court conviction will have a severe impact upon the sentencing options a Federal criminal court judge will have. My experience in Federal criminal courts gives you that edge to make sure your rights are not lost in the hue and cry of prior state convictions.

If you have been arrested or even contacted by a law enforcement officer, call the Law Office of David L. Owen, Jr., P.C., and I will discuss your matter in confidence making sure your rights and interests are protected.

In my practice I serve the criminal defense needs of Colorado's Front Range communities: Denver, Aurora, Golden, Boulder, Lakewood, Littleton, Highlands Ranch, Castle Rock, Colorado Springs, Monument, Wheat Ridge, Westminster, Arvada, Commerce City, Brighton, Evergreen, Northglenn, Thornton and Broomfield or anywhere in Colorado someone needs a criminal defense attorney skilled at both the Federal & State levels.

Father in law won't seek medical intervention?

By 1700, the Virginia colonists had made their fortunes through the cultivation of tobacco, setting a pattern that was followed in Maryland and the Carolinas. In political and religious matters, Virginia differed considerably from the New England colonies. The Church of England was the established church in Virginia, which meant taxpayers paid for the support of the church whether or not they were Anglicans. But church membership ultimately mattered little, since a lack of clergymen and few churches kept many Virginians from attending church. Religion thus was of secondary importance in the Virginia colony.. . Virginia's colonial government structure resembled that of England's county courts and contrasted with the theocratic government of Massachusetts Bay. A royal governor appointed justices of the peace, who set tax rates and saw to the building and maintenance of public works, such as bridges and roads. In the 1650s, the colonial assembly adopted a bicameral pattern: the House of Burgesses (the elected lower house) and an appointed Governor's Council. The assembly met regularly, not so much for representative government as for the opportunity to raise taxes.. . The founding of Maryland. Maryland was the first proprietary colony, based on a grant to Cecilius Calvert, Lord Baltimore, who named the land for Queen Henrietta Maria, wife of Charles I. Lord Baltimore planned for Maryland to serve as a haven for English Catholics who suffered political and religious discrimination in England, but few Catholics actually settled in the colony. Protestants were attracted by the inexpensive land that Baltimore offered to help him pay his debts. Baltimore granted his friends the large estates, which resembled medieval manors and paved the way for the plantation system.

7 years ago the rules were kinda like this:. . In order to be authorized to move your family, you have to PCS (permanent change of station) any station assignment less then 6 months in length is considered temporary. What most folks wont tell you is there's always exceptions, it just depends on how many people you want to piss off before you get it. for 5 months plus basic you can probably find a way to move to Ft. Gordon while hes there but that means you have to house hunt and move your stuff on your own because they aren't going to let him go for that. It's also going to be a good idea for him to give you power of attorney to move your home so you don't have to write him US mail every time you need a signature for the moving process.. . when you get to basic they will cut your hair and you will pay for it, or they wont cut your hair and you will pay for it, so you may as well wait until you're there and get your money's worth.. . Ft Benning is in prime basic training real estate, where its hot, humid, and rife with red ants and plenty of sand to get in your clothes. (for your husband) Reception and the first week of basic will be worse then anything you've ever done before (unless you've been in the military before), but once you make it past red phase its another day in the park, and you'll end up wishing you could go back later. The most fatal thing you could ever do in basic is go to sick call unless you need a hospital. If its not bleeding or broken don't even think about it, if it is bleeding or broken you need to make sure you can't take care of it yourself before you seek medical aid. If you do go to sick call you'll sit in a chair for hours with a bunch of whiny little privates who will never see anything but the inside of that clinic for the rest of their short military career. So if you do NEED to go, make sure its worth it, and if you aren't very careful you'll get addicted to sitting in A/C and not actually doing any work and you'll fall behind and recycle. If you recycle you go back to reception and wait there for anywhere from 12 more weeks to a full year before you finally get another spot in basic, or until they kick you out. Plus if you get lucky and only wait 2 weeks you still wont be able to start school as planned, which means you could get to AIT and wait for months and months (especially with longer schools) before you even start class, which means more time with drill sergeants, which means no promotions, which means only getting to visit your family on weekends and holidays (subject to change, which they'll find excuses to do often just to beat you down some more). . Heres the layman's: Keep your head straight and do what you're told and don't complain and you'll be done in no time flat. Screw up once or twice and realize just how much life could get worse.. . Apply the above to your military career and you'll get promoted a lot and see lots of cool stuff.. . One more thing, avoid recruiting duty at all costs, it will ruin everything you spent 6 years trying to achieve in the military. Trust me... the only way you're going to survive a tour in USAREC is A) you're the kind of guy that wins the major lotteries, often. B) you're an E-7 and they can't touch your rank no matter how hard they try. . I was selected for recruiting, stuck in ohio for 2 years, and delayed my career path in Apaches for so long that by the time I became eligible for sergeant, I was within my reenlistment window. (Being in the window means they hold your rank hostage and wont promote you unless you re-up, its better just to make the grade before that happens). . I liked the army until recruiting ruined it for me, its a lot of fun man, good luck to you.. . I did two tours in iraq, and graduated my AIT distinguished honor graduate, lots of commendations and medals, lots of face time with important people in my life. Never got a single negative mark on my record like an article 15 or anything. Hope things turn out better for you then they did for me.. . Disclaimer: I'm tell you what its like, if you want my honest opinion, you're smart enough to do networking then join the air force, they'll take better care of you. 15 months is a looooong time in the desert, especially when you have a wife.

DIY CO2 can easily inject yeast and its byproducts into the aquarium. The diffuser may have changed the balance and caused more fluid to escape from the yeast reaction chamber (the generator), or it just may have been something about to happen anyway. A partial water change can remove some of the yeast and some of the sugars that would have kept the yeast reproducing for a while in the aquarium. It is one of the simplest tank cloudiness problems to fix, since it goes away once the source of the yeast is corrected.. . Make a second container as big as the generator chamber. Put a two-hole rubber stopper in it. One tube enters from the generator and goes halfway down. Another tube leaves, bound for the tank, but draws from second container right from the top. This way any overflow liquid or sediment is trapped in the second chamber and unless it fills completely, does not travel to the tank.. . Of course this does not totally address the situation that you are still using DIY CO2. It's like continuing to fuss with your coal-burning steam engine powered horseless carriage while every one else is switching to gasoline engines.. . To quote an Aqua botanic article, "The yeast system .... is an excellent and inexpensive way to experiment with CO2 injection."

100% scam.. . There is no job and no legit company called that name.. . Any phone number that starts with +44-70 or anything similar is not based in the United Kingdom. It is from a UK based cell phone redirect service that can be answered by anyone anywhere in the world. It is a favorite service of scammers who want to pretend to be in the United Kingdom but are really half way around the world from there.. . There is only a scammer trying to steal your hard-earned money.. . The next email will be from another of the scammer's fake names and free email addresses pretending to be the "government visa official" or "travel agent" and will demand you pay, in cash, via Western Union or moneygram.. . Western Union and moneygram do not verify anything on the form the sender fills out, not the name, not the street address, not the country, not even the gender of the receiver, it all means absolutely nothing. The clerk will not bother to check ID and will simply hand off your cash to whomever walks in the door with the MTCN# and question/answer. Neither company will tell the sender who picked up the cash, at what store location or even in what country your money walked out the door. Neither company has any kind of refund policy, money sent is money gone forever.. . Now that you have responded to a scammer, you are on his 'potential sucker' list, he will try again to separate you from your cash. He will send you more emails from his other free email addresses using another of his fake names with all kinds of stories of great jobs, lottery winnings, millions in the bank and desperate, lonely, sexy singles. He will sell your email address to all his scamming buddies who will also send you dozens of fake emails all with the exact same goal, you sending them your cash via Western Union or moneygram.. . Do you know how to check the header of a received email? If not, you could google for information. Being able to read the header to determine the geographic location an email originated from will help you weed out the most obvious scams and scammers. Then delete and block that scammer. Don't bother to tell him that you know he is a scammer, it isn't worth your effort. He has one job in life, convincing victims to send him their hard-earned cash.. . Whenever suspicious or just plain curious, google everything, website addresses, names used, companies mentioned, phone numbers given, all email addresses, even partial sentences from the emails as you might be unpleasantly surprised at what you find already posted online. You can also post/ask here and every scam-warner-anti-fraud-busting site you can find before taking a chance and losing money to a scammer.. . 6 "Rules to follow" to avoid most fake jobs:. 1) Job asks you to use your personal bank/paypal account and/or open a new one.. 2) Job asks you to print/mail/cash a check or money order.. 3) Job asks you to use Western Union or moneygram in any capacity.. 4) Job asks you to accept packages and re-ship them on to anyone.. 5) Job asks you to pay visas, travel fees via Western Union or moneygram.. 6) Job asks you to sign up for a credit reporting or identity verification site.. . Avoiding all jobs that mention any of the above listed 'red flags' and you will miss nearly all fake jobs. Only scammers ask you to do any of the above. No. Exceptions. Ever. For any reason.. . If you google "fraud visa job scam", "fake UK hotel job Western Union scam", "fake housekeeping job scam" or something similar, you will find hundreds of posts from victims and near-victims of this type of scam.
