• Rachel was recently admitted to practice law in Tennessee, a state she has always called home. Although born in Knoxville, Rachel was raised in Oak Ridge. She attended Sewanee: The University of the South for her undergraduate degree and majored in International and Global Studies, with a concentration in studies surrounding the Hispanic World. She then returned to East Tennessee to attend the University of Tennessee College of Law. While earning her J.D., she successfully completed a concentration in advocacy and dispute resolution, and translated for Spanish-speaking clients in the College of Law's legal clinic. Rachel's main practice is in the area of family law, but also works with clients in probate and estate planning matters. Rachel speaks Spanish, enjoys traveling, and attends Church Street United Methodist Church in Knoxville.

Where can I find some sample business contracts for co-owning a business?

From personal experience, I can tell you what my husband did here in Florida. He did not need a lawyer. He went to the court and got a form to fill out to petition the court. Then he paid a d $94 fee. Then he had to attend a court apperance to explain to the judge that this is indeed what he wants to do. The judge granted the change. My husband then walked out of court with a different legal name and certified documents to prove it. He submitted copies of the certified court order to the Dept. of Vital Statistics of the state he was born in and had the name changed on his birth certificate, which cost him $12. He also used the certified court order to have his name legally changed on other documents such as personal accounts, SS card, driver's license. All together, he paid $106 to do this between the court fee and the birth certificate fee. To change it on all other documents did not cost him anything.. . NO LAWYERS ARE NEEDED AND IT IS NOT EXPENSIVE. To all those who said differently, they obviously have never done it and did not research it before answering your question.
