I would go more for a professional/business approach. Use a business format (Lincy Foundation's address at the upper right, the school's address at the upper left).. . The introduction should be who you are and what your purpose for writing the letter is. The person who opened the letter might be a person in the mailroom who is trying to figure out how to direct the letter. Thus, you want to provide some information.. . Next, the body of the letter should contact your message. You might want to provide a background as to why the donation is needed. Provide what the donation was used for, and how it will be a benefit.. . Lastly, close with contact information. They might want to ask you a question. Who knows, they might ask if the donation was enough, or if they can donate more because your letter shows that it was more helpful than they expected.. . Here's a sample letter. I made it somewhat vague because I don't have enough details.. . ----------------------------------------. . To whom it may concern:. . My name is Jane Doe. I am one of the teachers of Sunnydale Junior High School?s seventh grade classes. I am writing you today on behalf of my class regarding the donation of wireless keyboards and mice that we received from your Foundation in January 2009.. . In a world where technological advancements outpace the ability of schools to maintain up-to-date equipment, your donation will make a profound improvement to the classroom and its students. The donation will not only be of immeasurable help to the students of the current year, it will also be an asset that will be greatly utilized by students in the next few years.. . My students and I would like to express our appreciation for all of the assistance that your donation has provided us. Not only will it help me in my efforts to educate my students, it will help my students learn the lectures and succeed. The donations were put to immediate use, and the benefit of having them has already been realized.. . Again, thank you for your contributions. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me through the school at (800) 555-1234.. . Sincerely,. . Jane Doe
