I just found out today that some company has been "trying" to collect $20 from some past due account that I didn't know was past due as no one has ever tried to contact me. Well that's not exactly correct, 2-3 months ago someone contacted me and I told them to send me the original invoice and I would pay it but they never did. Now I have a $20 collections debt on my credit report and my score has gone down from about 780 to about 680.. . I filed disputes with both agencies reporting it stating that I have no knowledge of this debt. But my question is will they remove it? Technically I do have knowledge but as of yet this collections company has yet to provide me with what I requested.. . Second, if I just pay this amount will my credit score go back to where it was?. . And how the heck does $20 effect a credit score that much. I have about $30K in fixed debts that I pay every month on time. It should be obvious I can afford a one time charge of $20.. Another question too... The debt has actually been sold to a debt collection agnecy so the original company has to stake in it any more. However, the debt is claimed to be from more than 5 years ago. I know the statue of limitations is 3 years where I live but I don't know if it applies? Can they even try to sell or collect a debt from five years ago that they never tried to collect before?.

Does this seem vi sable for trying to claim Power of Attorney?. . My partners mom died earlier this year. Due to this my partner is now caring (taking shopping, collect pension, attending hospital appointments) for his nan. Then last week his nan's health took a turn of a worse and she was found wondering the streets - confused and dazed. She was taken to hospital were she told nurses, doctors and police that her house was robbed by some youths and they took her savings, bank book and pension book, but because the story didn't make much sense the police haven't taken the claims serious.. . As the days have gone by we have searched her house from top to bottom and the items she believes are missing - are missing... We can not locate her bank book and pension book anywhere - as for the savings, its proving it was there.. She is still in hospital as she is slowing going senile and is adament all this crazy stuff is happening - when i saw crazy i mean she thinks her sisters died, that the police have chopped of my partners ears because he has visited her etc... She is not waiting to see a Specialist to see if the can 'classify' what is wrong with her!!. . So back to my question - due to all of this would be partner be able to claim Power of Attorney, as at the moment we don't know if anyone does have her details and are taking money from her account - we have tried getting the police involved to check the accounts by they aren't interested.. . My partner isn't looking to touch any of her accounts, but just requires the rights to monitor them and make sure nothing untowards is happening.. Also if he can get Power of Attorney how does he go about it? Is it a form, does he need a solicitor etc??. . Sorry for the essay - if you require anymore info please contact me...

Do you need to give your teacher some kind of form or does he/she type it up on the computer and make several copies?. 2. When you mail them in, how will the college know that is belongs to you? POA should be drawn up by a local lawyer so that it is specific to the intent it is for and not subject to abuse. Any generic form you get off the net or at an office supply store leaves you at risk.. . If you are trying to get a copy of a POA that is currently being used by someone, the county clerk/register should have a copy filed in order for it to be of effect in most places. I start there.
