Ronda has been a driving force in the development and growth of Derrick's law practice. Derrick's daughter, Jolie, has been involved in extracurricular activities such as baton twirling, dance, band, Camp Fire, and Softball. She is currently Head Majorette at Benjamin Russell High School in Alexander City. Derrick's son, Dakota, is active in many extracurricular activities as well. He plays left tackle for the Alexander City Middle School eighth grade football team. Dakota is also active in Boy Scouts, wrestling for Alexander City Middle School, and basketball. He is currently a First Class Scout in Troop 169 in Alexander City. Derrick Blythe and his family are active members of First United Methodist Church in Alexander City, where Derrick and his wife, Ronda, serve on the Missions Committee. He has also been trained in child safety, Scout Master and Assistant Scout Master Leadership training, and leadership specific training. Derrick is the former Chairperson of the Administrative Board Committee and he has also served on the Finance Committee and Nominations Committee.     In addition, Derrick Blythe has served the Tallapoosa County Bar Association as President for the 2011-2013 term. He also served as the Vice President during the 2009-2011 term.     Derrick Blythe has served his community and neighbors in various capacities. Early in his career, Derrick was a member of the Jaycees. In addition, for numerous years, Derrick served on the Board of Directors for the Boys and Girls Club of Alexander City. Derrick is also an active member of the Alexander City Shooting Club. Moreover, Derrick has for many years and currently teaches a gun safety class in the Alexander City area. Derrick has been an active speaker for the local school system in classes and school organizations such as the Legal Eagles. Derrick served as the Cub Scout Den Leader for six years and he currently serves on the Scout Pack Planning Committee. He is currently and has for years also served as the Chairperson of Scout Troop 169. Through Derrick's various connections with Scouting, he has instructed several merit badges and activities including first aid, wilderness survival, and camping. Derrick also taught Scouts in the Law Merit Badge at Merit Badge University held at Huntington University. Derrick has also been involved in the Tallapoosa County Bar Association for almost two decades. During that time period, he has served as Treasurer, Vice President, and President.
