Your mother has every right to change her will until she is declared mentally incompetent by a court, at which point, a designee will be assigned to make choices for her. Your mother could also willingly agree to a power of attorney, at which point they will make choices for her. Go to the lawyer because a court will be objective, where as if she is swayed by someone to make them her POA things may get ugly.
