  • Experienced California Litigation Law Firm

Michael P. Ring & Associates is a successful law firm serving the nation from law offices in Santa Barbara, California. We practice law the old fashioned way; by putting the client first. Our attorneys and support staff understand the importance of staying in frequent communication with our clients, and we are always willing to provide up-to-the-minute information on the status of our clients' legal matters.

We have the experience and resources to take on almost any type of litigation, against any opponent. In the past, our attorneys have taken on large multi-national corporations, including Chevron, Computer Associates, General Motors, and Merrill Lynch. Though it is difficult to divide our work into categories, a partial list of the types of cases we take would be:

Employment law Wrongful discharge Construction law Real estate Personal injury Business litigation Business contracts and formation Securities fraud and other securities law matters Elder abuse

Our lawyers offer clients quality legal representation based on more than 50 combined years of practice investigating and preparing cases to be tried in all venues. We have appeared before tribunals in state and federal trial courts, arbitration panels and before administrative law judges including the National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD), the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE), the Pacific Stock Exchange (PSE), and various other exchanges.

We have represented our clients not only in trial courts, but have presented briefs and argued their cases to the appellate courts within the state of California and within the federal court system. Some of our published decisions are listed below.

Taylorv. Lockheed Martin Corp., 113 Cal. App. 4th 380 (2 nd App. Dist. 2003)

Visueta v. General Motors Corp., 234 Cal. App. 3 rd 1609 (2 nd App. Dist. 1991)

    In re Price, 871 F.2d 97 (9 th Cir. 1989)

Because of our past results, we have achieved a reputation that has lead us to take many cases from other lawyers who have started a matter only to find the case a little more complicated or difficult than usual. Our clients have been on both sides of the issues, as we have found ourselves representing not only employees from many industries, but also both small and large companies in everything from drafting buy-sell agreements and to wrongful discharge litigation and other employment law matters.

You can go to a solicitor and do a statutory declaration. Costs about ?10. My stepdaughter and stepson did it.

Some macro's are malicious, though most are not. Upon opening a document with Macro's MS Office will usually ask you if you want to run them or not to use them. If you have kept Windows up to date with the latest Office updates and service packs, you should be well protected against them, if not, just click the "No" button and the macro's in the document will not run.. . If you are paranoid, scan them with your antivirus or MalwareBytes to see if they contain infected files

I need a sample reference letter but not sure as to where to find it....any help?.

how do i form my letters to my b/f?

It depends what the mistakes are.. . If it seems from the will itself that it has not been properly signed and witnessed, then the whole will is invalid.. . What more usually happens is that the person's will is properly signed and witnessed, so it is valid, but it is not totally clear (and it's a bit late after they're dead to ask them what they meant!) If the argument becomes serious and the family can't agree, it will have to go to the High Court as a contentious probate case and the judge will rule what the will means. Solicitors make far more money out of sorting out badly written DIY wills than they ever do out of writing wills for people.. . The kind of time this can happen is if, say, the person leaves something "to be divided between all my children". If there are stepchildren or illegitimate children, it can be contested as to what "children" was intended to mean. It's far better to name them all individually.. . The shortest will ever contested in an English court simply said "All for Mother". You might think that is clear enough, but in fact it was written by a man whose pet name for his wife was "Mother" - so it wasn't clear.. . A few other common mistakes:. - failing to name executors (then the court has to appoint administrators to sort the estate out, usually the closest relatives, in the same way as if there was no will at all). - failing to dispose of the residue. - failing to include a sentence saying "I revoke all previous wills". Fail to do this, and if someone finds a previous will you have made, the two will be taken together as being a valid will. It's wise to put this in even if you have never made a will before.. . So many DIY will-writers forget about the residue. You don't know how much you will be worth on the day you die, so the way to go about it is to list your specific legacies, then put in a paragraph saying who "the residue of my estate" should go to and that covers the rest of what you leave. Fail to do this and you end up with a "partial intestacy" which will need lawyers to sort it out.. . Getting married also invalidates a will. The law assumes that you want to change your will because of your new family situation. If you want to make a will while you are engaged, the way to do it is put a sentence in that says "This will is made in contemplation of my forthcoming marriage to X" and then it will stay valid after the wedding day. Divorce doesn't make a will invalid, but it does make any legacy to your former spouse invalid - it is treated as if they had died.. . The Which? book "Wills and probate" is a really good guide and covers all this. I recommend it.. . Edit - if the will leaves something which isn't theirs to give, it's just the same as a legacy of something they used to have but don't have any more when they die. That particular gift fails, but the rest of the will remains valid.
