  • Mr. Weinberg concentrates his practice in business organizations, tax planning and estate planning.? He represents numerous clients in the formation of closely-held entities and the potential estate and gift tax issues relating thereto.? He has also represented several trust beneficiaries in petitions to remove corporate trustees.? Additionally, Mr. Weinberg assisted in litigation involving the representation of a? trustee where the trust beneficiaries differed on whether the trust should retain closely-held assets and where numerous GST issues were involved.? Mr. Weinberg also represented taxpayers in a recent gift tax audit involving two years of gift tax returns, which was successfully resolved at the IRS Estate and Gift Tax Attorney?level.? Mr. Weinberg routinely represents executors in probate matters and also files United States Estate Tax Returns and Kentucky Inheritance Tax Returns on a regular basis.

    Mr. Weinberg currently serves as an Adjunct Professor at the Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville, where he teaches a course in Estate and Gift Taxation.

His finance experience includes the representation of major institutional lenders in the drafting, negotiating, and closing of bridge, construction, and permanent loans secured by retail, office, industrial, and vacant land.? In addition to conventional loans, Mr. Weinberg has also assisted in the representation of equity investors and leverage lenders in New Markets Tax Credit transactions.? He also represented major institutional investors in leasing and developing retail, office, and industrial properties throughout the United States.??

    Prior to joining Sonnenschein, Mr. Weinberg worked for five years in the commercial real estate section of Frost Brown Todd, LLC in Louisville.? He also interned a summer with the Honorable Bernard J. Friedman U.S. District Court Judge in Detroit, Michigan.

    Mr. Weinberg received received his J.D. cum laude from the Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville, where he graduated in the top 10% of his class and also served as Co-Senior Editor of the Brandeis Law Journal.? He received his B.A. in Economics from Emory University, where he graduated in the top 10% of his class and was selected as a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
