Litigation

I filed irrreconcileable differences for divorce. My soon to be ex stated that he agreed with everything on the papers except that he wants me to take back my maiden name. I told him that I would have it changed at the hearing and he is going to go ahead and not disagree. But do I have to change my name just because he doesn't want me to keep my married name??? I've got a lot of business contacts, not to mention just the little everyday stuff I'd had to change. I don't see where that can be HIS choice. Does anyone know if he legally can make me change my name???. Mia....that's exactly was I was planning on doing. Because of the way I filed, we both have to agree on things and I didn't want things held up just because of a name change. He stated that "it's just wrong" for me to keep his last name. I don't see what it really matters.. Cool....I understand what you mean but I actually have an invested interest in my name. I'm a top salesperson in my company and all of my business contacts know me by my name. It would take me a month of Sunday's to explain to all of them my new name and why I had to change it. If it weren't for that I'd change it back to my maiden name in a heart beat. It's not that I'm trying to be ugly because it ultimately doesn't matter to me personally, but business wise I don't want to change it.. Karin.....Great idea. I never thought about that. This is the exact reason why I love Yahoo Answers!!! Thanks!!!. Drew.....That's exactly what it is. During our marriage and our seperation he's done nothing by try to manipulate me. It's just his one last attempt of doing that and to try to be hurtful to me. Ultimately I really don't think he cares. We don't have children so he's just trying to pick at one thing and manipulate me with it. Thanks!.

I haven't had anything to do with my Mother since age 18. I am now 28. She has just appointed me her Durable Power of Attorney. I did not ask for, nor do I want this responsibility. She says that because I am her next of kin and her only child that I have no say in the matter. I cannot afford to seek legal advise nor talk to a lawyer. I have tried searching the internet for an answer but all the "power of attorney" sites are from the wrong perspective. So can I be forced to become my Mother's Durable power of attorney?. . Additional Details: . My mom is a very manipulative person. This is one of the reasons for the falling out. I do not even live in the same town as my mother. I work full time and hardly have time for myself. She is un mobile and wants me to do everything for her back and forth 60 miles a couple times a week is not affordable time or money wise. She refuses any help that the community offers her and is not happy unless it is me doing it. But i am not capable of helping her the way she needs to be helped i have tried to explain this to her but she will not hear me out and says that i have no say in the matter. Well I don't feel that this is in the least bit fair, and am trying to find out if what she says is true. That in the case that I am her only heir (to nothing but debt, i might add) that i am obligated to take these responsibilities..

I need adive on writting a letter for a gal I know who has been taking care of a friends infant for the last year. The mother left the state and the father has nothing to do with her. What type of legal letter should I type up stating in it that I know how this child has been cared for by the care giver. Is there a legal name for this statement? If so what is? (ie: witness letter, support letter etc?, im a little confused I have never done this before). If anyone knows of a website with sample letters and or ideas on how to word all this correctly, and who to address this to (ie: judge, to whom it may concern etc) I appreciate your answers..

. In a formal, business memorandum, type the heading in all capitals.. Answer. true. false. I chose false....

Do you have any tips on changing my middle name?
