I had 3 blank money orders in am envelope with the receipt attached to them along with the receipt they gave me at the post office after receiving and paying for all of it. Is there any way i can report it lost? Will i be able to get my money back?. I got the money orders at USPS..

Please accept my condolences for the loss of your Mother.. Federal Estate taxes only come into play if your Mother's total estate was valued at more than $1 million in 2002 or 2003. While Illinois does not have an Inheritance Tax, it does have a stand alone Estate Tax which probably also excluded the first $1 million in 2002/2003, but I am not certain. There is an exclusion amount, but you would have to check with a Tax Attorney in Illinois to be sure of that amount. Less than 5% of all estates in the US have owed any Estate Tax at all. . There are many questions that need to be answered before you can find this money.. . 1. Did she have any outstanding debts? If so , those have to be paid first before her estate is distributed.. . 2. Where was her estate Probated? Generally it is probated in her County of residence. For instance: If she lived in Mason County, start at the Mason County Courthouse. Probate Records are Public Records and anyone may look at them.. . 3. The Workman's Comp settlement may or may not have been part of her estate. The Probate records or the Workman's Comp records will tell you for sure.. . 4. Was she married at the time of her death? If so, the estate may have gone to her spouse.. . 5. Who cared for you from age 12 to age 18? If you were in Foster Care, it may have gone to the State of Illinois to pay for your care. If it was a relative, it may also have gone to pay for your care. But there would be records of that. Check with the Foster Care people if you were in foster care. If it was a relative, there should have been tax returns filed for you. Especially since you probably received payments from Social Security (from your Mother's account) until you were 18. There should be records of what money was spent and what it was spent on.. . 6. The Probate Records should show who her heirs were and what went to each heir. If you were an heir, and were a minor, a Trustee would have to be named to take care of your inheritance. The Trustee has a Fiduciary Duty to care for your inheritance until you reach the age of majority. The Trustee also has a responsibility to pay for your care from your inheritance until you reach the age of majority. Ask to see the records.. . Good Luck. It will take some digging but you may be pleasantly surprised.

my brother and I are sending a talent agency a resume, cover letter, and other requirements.. . but neither of us are sure what to but for the cover letter.. . online it says to state your: Describing your personality, hobbies, special skills, sports, etc.. . so far this is what we have got---.
