Your brother's creditors have no right to satisfy his debts against your property.. . Your concern is if your brother uses your name to create debts for which you are financially responsible. Your POA should be rewritten to specifically eliminate his right to create any indebtedness in your name. The checks should be rewritten to say limited POA putting all others on notice to receive a copy of the POA before extending credit.

Have any of you had experience changing your name after domestic partnership registration in California? On the form, there is a spot that allows for a new middle and last name to be adopted by both parties. This is supposedly all that is required, and you can go to the DMV, SSA, and passport agency and make the changes.. . Can anyone confirm this is enough? I entered a registered domestic partnership in January, however I have sense moved to North Carolina. Does this make a difference? Regardless of if they recognize the partnership, it is still a certified legal document authorizing/ordering a name change.. As I understand it is legal in California, and social security will accept it. However, do other states have to take it? For instance, the SSA office in North Carolina, can they reject it while California SSA office accepts it? Same for DMV and passport?.
